Baby Cashmere yarn
As premium cashmere goes, you can’t find anything rarer than baby cashmere.
Sourced from the very first combing of a young cashmere goat kid, typically between three and 12 months old, baby cashmere is quite literally a once-in-a-lifetime fibre, making it one of the rarest natural yarns available.
The extreme cold conditions in outer Mongolia encourage longer, finer and softer cloud-like undercoat, producing a yarn that is more pilling resistant at only 13.0 to 13.5 microns in fibre diameter. Compared with 14.5 to 19 microns for adult cashmere, baby cashmere offers exceptional softness and delicacy.
This luxurious yarn comes in its undyed natural white colour with no chemical treatment, it is ideal for next-to-skin accessories such as scarves, shawls and beanies. Its natural hypoallergenic and thermal-regulating properties also make it perfect for lightweight winter garments and treasured baby heirloom pieces.
These precious fibres are sourced from baby goats raised by nomadic herders in outer Mongolia, organically certified by the Mongolian Chamber of Commerce, both the fibre and production are RAF (Responsible Animal Fibre) and SFA (Sustainable Fibre Alliance) certified, meeting rigorous standards for animal welfare, environmental care and social responsibility.
